Part A: Website terms of use
The rules for using this website.
1.About these terms
These terms apply to your use of this website, run by Assured Security Solutions Ltd (company number 05729206, registered office Charter House, 105 Leigh Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex SS9 1JL). By using the website, you agree to them.
2.Information on this website
The information on this website is general guidance. It isn’t advice about your particular property, and you shouldn’t rely on it in place of a site survey.
Prices shown, such as “from £399” or “from £699”, are a guide to the starting cost of a typical system. The price for your system will be set out in a written quote after a free survey.
We try to keep the website accurate and up to date, but we can’t guarantee it’s free from errors or always available.
3.Our content
The text, images, logos and design of this website belong to us or are used with permission. You may view and print pages for your own use, but you mustn’t copy or reuse them for any other purpose without our written permission.
4.Links to other websites
Where we link to other websites, such as the ICO or Google Maps, we do so for your information only. We aren’t responsible for their content.
5.Our responsibility
We aren’t responsible for any loss caused by relying on general information on this website. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
6.Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Part B: Terms of business
The terms that apply when we survey, install or maintain a system for you.
1.When these terms apply
These terms apply when we survey, supply, install or maintain a security system for you. Some parts apply differently depending on whether you are a consumer (buying for your home) or a business customer. Where that’s the case, we say so.
If you’re a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
2.Surveys and quotes
Our site surveys are free and there’s no obligation to go ahead. After the survey, we’ll give you a written quote setting out the equipment, the work involved and the price.
Quotes are valid for [30] days. Prices [include / exclude] VAT.
3.Our contract with you
Our contract starts when you accept our quote in writing (including by email). The contract is made up of the quote and these terms. If anything in the quote conflicts with these terms, the quote applies.
If you’d like to change the work after accepting, tell us. We’ll let you know if the change affects the price or timing before going ahead.
4.Your right to cancel (consumers)
If you agree a contract with us at your home or by phone or email, you have 14 days to change your mind.
If you’re a consumer and the contract is agreed away from our premises (for example, at your home after a survey) or at a distance, you can cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving a reason.
To cancel, tell us clearly by phone on 0800 032 2920, by email to info@assuredsecuritysolutions.co.uk, or in writing. We’ll refund any payment you’ve made within 14 days of you telling us.
We won’t start work during the 14 days unless you ask us to. If you ask us to start sooner and then cancel within the 14 days, you’ll need to pay a fair amount for the work done up to that point, and for any equipment already fitted.
5.Deposits and payment
- We may ask for a deposit of [deposit amount or %] when you accept the quote. This is refundable if you cancel within your 14-day cancellation period.
- The balance is due on completion of the installation, [within X days] of our invoice.
- We accept [payment methods].
- If a business customer pays late, we may charge interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
6.Installation
We’ll agree an installation date with you and do our best to keep to it. If we need to change it, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
We’ll agree cable routes and equipment positions with you during the survey. We work tidily and make good small fixing holes, but we aren’t responsible for redecorating unless agreed in the quote.
What we need from you
- access to the property at the agreed times
- a working mains power supply where equipment is fitted
- a working internet connection and Wi-Fi details if you want to view cameras or receive alerts on your phone
- to tell us about anything that may affect the work, such as pets (so we can fit pet-friendly detectors), hidden pipes or cables, or asbestos
- any permission needed, for example from a landlord or freeholder
7.Equipment and ownership
Equipment remains ours until you’ve paid for it in full. Once fitted, you’re responsible for looking after it.
8.Guarantees and your legal rights
- Equipment: covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, which is usually [X] years. We’ll tell you the warranty for your equipment in your quote.
- Our workmanship: guaranteed for [12 months] from installation. If something we’ve fitted fails because of how we installed it, we’ll put it right free of charge.
If you’re a consumer, you also have legal rights. Our services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and equipment must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If they aren’t, you’re entitled to a repair or replacement and, in some cases, a refund. Citizens Advice can tell you more about your rights.
Our guarantees don’t cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, power surges, weather, pets, or work carried out by anyone else.
9.Maintenance contracts
Every new residential installation includes a free 12-month maintenance contract. During that time, it includes:
- an annual service visit to carry out preventative maintenance
- repair callouts if something isn’t working, with an engineer sent as soon as possible
- a re-evaluation of your property on each visit to check it’s still fully protected
Replacement parts and batteries [are / are not] included.
After the first 12 months
Your free maintenance contract doesn’t renew automatically. Before it ends, we’ll contact you to ask whether you’d like to continue and tell you the price. Paid maintenance contracts last for 12 months and only continue if you agree to renew.
10.Your system and your footage
- Unless agreed in writing, we don’t monitor your alarm or cameras. Alerts go to you, not to us or to the police.
- You’re responsible for keeping your passwords, fobs and tags secure. We recommend setting a strong password for your camera system.
- The footage your cameras record is controlled by you. If your cameras capture areas beyond your property, data protection law may apply to you. See our privacy policy for more.
11.Insurance
If your insurer requires a particular type of system, a particular installer approval, or police response, please check with them before you accept our quote. We’ll tell you about the equipment we’re fitting so you can confirm it meets their requirements.
12.Our responsibility to you
A security system reduces the risk of crime and helps you respond to it, but no system can guarantee to prevent a break-in, fire or flood.
If you’re a consumer: we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for loss caused by a crime or event that our system was not able to prevent, unless it was caused by our breach or negligence.
If you’re a business customer: our total liability under each contract is limited to the price you paid for it, and we aren’t liable for loss of profit, business or revenue, or for any indirect loss.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t legally be limited.
13.Events outside our control
We aren’t responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, supplier shortages or illness. If that happens, we’ll let you know and agree a new date with you.
14.Complaints
If you’re unhappy with our work, please tell us on 0800 032 2920 or info@assuredsecuritysolutions.co.uk. We’ll look into it and aim to put things right quickly.
15.Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you’re a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
