Intruder alarms have come a long way. Older systems were disruptive to install and offered limited access options, usually a PIN that was easy to guess. Today they can be tailored to your property and give you a complete way to protect your home.
More choice brings more confusion, though. Wireless technology, fobs and built-in microphones are all on offer, and it’s hard to know where to start when upgrading an old system or fitting one in a new home. At Assured Security Solutions every alarm is designed individually, and the options come down to three main types.
Fully wired systems
Wireless technology hasn’t made wired systems obsolete. They remain a good fit for many small properties, including bungalows, offices and commercial units, and many owners are perfectly happy with the protection they give. The drawback is disruption. If you’d rather not have cables running around your furnishings, a wired system may not suit you.
Fully wireless systems
Wireless systems use 868MHz technology to link a range of detectors to the main panel. The range is excellent, so outbuildings and sheds can be included in the protected area. With no cables to worry about, installation is far simpler, and you can choose modern access options such as fobs. Most of our residential and small retail customers choose fully wireless.
Which type suits you?
- Wired: small properties such as bungalows, offices and units
- Wireless: most homes and small shops, especially if you want minimal disruption
- Hybrid: upgrading an old wired system or adding detection after redecorating
Hybrid systems
Because each system is designed around the property, we can combine wired and wireless equipment. A hybrid is ideal for upgrading an old wired alarm that needs extra detection, or where you want better security in a newly decorated home. Like all our alarms, it offers total perimeter protection and is easy to expand for future projects.
